Please note that the time of this speech has changed to 12:00 noon eastern standard time.

Dear Principal:

In a recent interview with student reporter, Damon Weaver, President Obama announced that on September 8 -- the first day of school for many children across America -- he will deliver a national address directly to students on the importance of education. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.

Since taking office, the President has repeatedly focused on education, even as the country faces two wars, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and major challenges on issues like energy and health care. The President believes that education is a critical part of building a new foundation for the American economy. Educated people are more active civically and better informed on issues affecting their lives, their families and their futures.

This is the first time an American president has spoken directly to the nation's school children about persisting and succeeding in school. We encourage you to use this historic moment to help your students get focused and begin the school year strong. I encourage you, your teachers, and students to join me in watching the President deliver this address on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. It will be broadcast live on the White House website www.whitehouse.gov 12:00 noon eastern standard time.

In advance of this address, we would like to share the following resources: a menu of classroom activities for students in grades preK-6 and for students in grades 7-12. These are ideas developed by and for teachers to help engage students and stimulate discussion on the importance of education in their lives. We are also staging a student video contest on education. Details of the video contest will be available on our website www.ed.gov in the coming weeks.

On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do society's most important work by preparing our children for work and for life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our social progress. I look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead to continue improving the quality of public education we provide all of our children.

Sincerely,

  Arne Duncan

I pledge allegiance to Obama video

Please watch this and then answer the question whether it is safe to let Obama into your child's public school:

Hard to know where to begin with this mishmash of self-help, cultural wisdom, volunteerism, psychobabble and blatant propaganda - all beautifully and seductively produced to manipulate the minds of young viewers. In other words, propaganda.

Please watch the whole thing, taking special note of:

3:02 which begins a montage of people pledging to end slavery. Excuse me, but we don't have slavery in our country. And as for the considerable number of nations that do - many involving Muslims abducting and enslaving Christians - I have not seen any American intervention. Why don't we teach our citizens to be proud that we ended slavery and to consider helping other countries end theirs?

3:15: "I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama" (kissing biceps - does this mean a threat of physical violence?)

And the end group pledge:

"I pledge to be a servant to our president and all mankind."
This has come to light because it was shown in a public school assembly in Utah.   http://mommylife.net/archives/2009/09/i_pledge_allegi.html

Parents rebel against Obama TV speech to schools
'President doesn't get to speak to my children unchallenged'

Parents across the country are rebelling against plans by President Barack Obama to speak directly to their children through the classrooms of the nation's public schools without their presence, participation and approval.

The plans announced by Obama also have been cited as raising the specter of the Civilian National Security Force, to which he's referred several times since his election campaign began, but never fully explained.

More school districts taking harder line on Obama's speech

It's rare we hear from Dickinson ISD, but the small Galveston County school district sent us a press release today with its take on President Obama's Sept. 8 address to schoolchildren (earlier blog post). The district's statement is one of the most hardline I've come across so far:

Dickinson ISD teachers and other staff will not present the live address to students on Tuesday. If parents wish for their children to view the speech, we believe the appropriate thing to do would be for parents to record the speech, view it and discuss it at home with their children.

Our Technology Department will record the address, giving our instructional leaders an opportunity to consider the president's comments. Should a teacher feel he or she would like to incorporate the message into the class curriculum, then the teacher will have to send home a note to parents telling them when the speech will be shown and giving the parent the opportunity to opt their child out of viewing the address and providing an alternate assignment.

Most area districts, such as Fort Bend, plan to leave the decision on broadcasting the speech to individual principals and teachers. Some districts, though, are encouraging — or discouraging — teachers to show it more than others. For example, Trazanna Moreno, the spokeswoman for Klein ISD, said the message to social studies teachers is, "If you can make it work, go ahead." Pasadena ISD spokeswoman Candace Ahlfinger said, "He is the president," but added that the decision to show Obama's speech is left to individual schools.

Spring Branch ISD was less enthusiastic in its statement:

The President's address, like Presidential Inaugurations and other national broadcast events, is only relevant when it is completely aligned to a teacher's lesson for the day. Our principals in collaboration with teachers will use their professional judgment to...

Letters You Can Send Your Kid's School About Sept. 8, (Obama Propaganda Day)

ISSUE: From a school district, to teachers, in a very deep blue state:

We have received notice from the U.S. Department of Education that President Obama will deliver an address to students on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 12:00 noon. The address will be broadcast live on the White House website, www.whitehouse.gov . According to the press release, “The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.”

This address is receiving a lot of attention in the media, both positive and negative. Our understanding is that the address will be archived on the White House website for students and families to view at their convenience if they so desire. Therefore, schools should not alter their schedules so that each student may view the address, and teachers are not required to interrupt their lessons to show the broadcast. However, if a teacher chooses to incorporate the presidential address into his or her lesson, the teacher should inform his or her students and their parents by this Friday, September 4, 2009 of the plan to view the address in class on Tuesday. If a parent or guardian does not want his or her child to view the address, or if a student over 18 does not want to view the address, the student will be excused from the class.  Comment # 71 by pby

MY message to the principal is plain and simple:
"IF you show Mr. Obama's speech on Tuesday, my children and likely hundreds of other children may be sick that day. The school district will loose TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars from non-attendance. If the speech is re-broadcast at a later date without my notification, I pledge that I will do everything in my power to help elect a new school board superintendent next year.

Please let all of the parents with children at our school know of your decision by 4 pm Fri, Sept 4, or parents will assume that you intend to air Mr. Obama's speech on Tues, Sept 8."     Comment # 77 by BP2

To: All
Here is the letter that I just sent to the administration and faculty of our local School District:

This is vitally important. I will be expecting a reply from each addressee on this email. Regarding President Obama’s address to the nation’s students…

I trust you will continue with your PLANNED lessons and activities on Tuesday, September 8th. I have an expectation that each and every day’s lesson plans are part of the overall curriculum required to complete the school year. Otherwise the school year would be shortened. I also trust my children’s lunch period will not be disrupted by airing the speech in the cafeteria.

The planned address by President Obama would disrupt this schedule, interfering with the education of my children. I have examined the menu of activities published by the U.S. Department of education and find it totally inappropriate to compel students to listen to the speech and participate in these activities. The President does not have the academic credentials to teach any Elementary or High School lesson. In fact, his academic performance is a mystery since he has never released his grades from High School or College. He has never released his graded writings or thesis papers that led to the conference of his degrees. He is unqualified to speak to the subject of setting academic goals since he has never stated how he set academic goals and plans, and how he achieved them (and how his grades reflected those goals).

It is also no small thing that President Obama has admitted to using illegal drugs including marijuana in his youth. This well known fact can provide these impressionable teens the rationale that they too could engage in these destructive activities and still achieve their academic goals.

If you insist on using the taxpayer funded facility to require students to listen to a partisan political speech and directed activities (the “Menu of Classroom Activities” is political), then you have quite a dilemma on your hands. Parents like me, will not consent to our children participating in this activity because of the concerns stated above. You must set up a separate facility within the school for these children and provide appropriate academic activities to keep them engaged (I am also requesting you publically release the lesson plan for these activities). The other side of this coin is that these children will be separated from their peers and some division will naturally occur where there wasn’t any before. Some of the activities specify that the children create posters and such that will be posted in the classroom or hallways, since my children will not participate in that activity they will be unduly subject to political peer pressure.

If you insist that all students at school that day must participate in the President’s lecture and activities, it will be necessary to keep my children home. Therein lies another dilemma for you. My children will not be sick and therefore it could be a classified as an unexcused absence. Will such an absence be held against my child in ANY way? That is a question that must be answered.

I believe a fine alternative for parents who wish to participate in this event is for them to keep THEIR children at home and watch the speech and do the specified activities with their child. That way no parent will be denied the academic exercises that they choose for their child. I choose the academic exercises in each subject area that are part of the curricula defined for this academic year.

As I mentioned; I expect (as a tax paying parent entrusting the education and care of my children to this school district) that each addressee will respond to this email. I have seen the talking points that have been released by the National Education Association, and hope you will not resort to such “canned” statements.

I will release this as an open letter to the media, but I will not release the names of the addressees. I ask that you extend the same courtesy to my family by not releasing my name or the names of my children. I would consider such a release a violation of ethics and privacy.

Submitted with all due respect and appreciation for the fine work that the ________ County School system provides for our children and community…

Thanks for your attention and actions in resolution of the matter.
Sincerely,

ISSUE: We live in a reasonable (Michigan) district as far as this stuff goes. Here’s what we received without asking for the school’s position on this.

Dear Parents,

As you may know, on Tuesday, September 8, President Obama will be addressing our nation’s students. The first day of school is generally a very full day for teachers and students, and many students will be either at lunch or in a classroom with previously planned activities taking place at that time. We have also received a few calls from parents who are concerned about elementary and middle school students viewing a message parents have not had the opportunity to preview. Furthermore, as a general rule, we do not show live television, as we cannot determine the content; therefore, teachers are not showing the President’s speech on Tuesday.

The address will be reviewed by Central Office administration and a decision will be made regarding showing the address to students. If it is decided that it will be shown to students, a letter will be sent to schools by our Educational Services Department to send home for parental information regarding the address and parent permission.

It is our understanding that the President’s message to students is to work hard, set high educational goals and take responsibility for their learning. We encourage parents to discuss with their children what this means within the context of their family’s educational goals. For further information regarding the Presidents address to students you may go to http://www.ed.gov/admins/lead/academic/bts.html.

Respectfully,

Kenneth Gutman

I just called my kids elementary school to see if they were planning to air the Obozo Show, and the secretary told me that they have gotten so many calls from parents worried about it and that are threatening to hold their kids from school on that day, that the school administration had to call an emergency meeting with the school board to discuss the issue.

I was also told that school funding is based on attendance and that if a student is absent, then the school won’t get the money that was allotted for that student. So as you can imagine the School board administration is in a panic over the number of parents who are PROMISING to boycott on that day.

PreK-6 Menu of Classroom Activities:
President Obama’s Address to Students Across America
Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education September 8, 2009

Before the Speech:

Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions: Who is the President of the United States? What do you think it takes to be President? To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking? Why do you think he wants to speak to you? What do you think he will say to you?

Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools? Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.

Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech:

As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following: What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do? What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?

Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?

Students can record any questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.
After the Speech:

Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes or stick notes on a butcher paper poster in the classroom to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty.

Students could discuss their responses to the following questions: What do you think the President wants us to do? Does the speech make you want to do anything? Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us? What would you like to tell the President?

Teachers could encourage students to participate in the Department of Education’s “I Am What I Learn” video contest.

On September 8th the Department will invite K-12 students to submit a 2
video no longer than 2 min, explaining why education is important and how their education will help them achieve their dreams. Teachers are welcome to incorporate the same or a similar video project into an assignment. More details will be released via www.ed.gov
.
Extension of the Speech: Teachers can extend learning by having students

Create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted in quadrants or puzzle pieces or trails marked with the labels: personal, academic, community, country. Each area could be labeled with three steps for achieving goals in those areas. It might make sense to focus on personal and academic so community and country goals come more readily.

Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.

Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.

Interview and share about their goals with one another to create a supportive community.

Participate in School wide incentive programs or contests for students who achieve their goals.

Write about their goals in a variety of genres, i.e. poems, songs, personal essays.

Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.

Graph student progress toward goals.

Obama to Appear on Back-to-School Program

By SLJ Staff -- School Library Journal, 8/21/2009  http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/article/CA6678944.html

President Obama will appear on the back-to-school TV special “

The 30-minute documentary, which airs at 8 p.m. on September 8 , highlights the education challenges, life choices, and breakthroughs experienced by Obama’s speechwriter, Sarah Hurwitz; Clarkson’s music director, Jason Halbert; and James’s marketing executive Latesha Williams.

Obama, Clarkson, and James are featured in the show alongside their trusted professional colleagues who work behind-the-scenes but have compelling life stories. Hurwitz chronicles her experience growing up in Wayland, MA, to her days as an undergraduate and law student and her current job at the White House. Halbert, who has been music director for Clarkson since 2003, is a Beaumont, TX, native who has cultivated a life-long love of music to become a Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter. Williams, a native of Brooklyn, NY, combined education, perseverance, and her dream of working in the music and sports industries to land several internships for high-profile business and entertainment figures, which ultimately led to her working with James

The story of these three professionals shows that education is key to living out your dreams, Obama says in the documentary. “So as this new school year begins, I urge you to set goals for your own education: to study hard and get involved in your school; to try new things and find something you're passionate about,” he says on the show. “Don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for help when you need it. That's how you learn. That's how you get ahead. And that's how our nation will get ahead—by ensuring that every American gets a world class education, from preschool to college to a career. So get schooled. Your future—and our nation's future–depend on it.”

“Get Schooled: You Have the Right” will air commercial-free, and kicks off a five-year national initiative co-developed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom that allows the corporate world and communities to address the challenges facing America's public schools.

The program is created and executive produced by Dave Sirulnick and executive produced and directed by Lauren Lazin.

I want to know what “goals” this document is speaking of. What do you want to bet it is going to be some veiled way to organize “children” as his drone army that wants everything he asks them to support.

I’m going to keep my kid out of school during this exercise and instruct the teacher that my son is not allowed to write anything that is to be redistributed or displayed.

The K-6 document is far more disturbing, but as Bill Ayers says, Get em while they’re young.”

Anybody with children in school should organize with other parents to keep a vigilant eye on what comes out of the Dept of Ed. This is their first year to implement the Bill Ayers School of Indoctrination. This is just the first salvo. And notice that on the Dept of Ed website, these docs weren’t even posted under the “Teachers” link; they were posted under the “Administrators” link.

To most parents this effort will appear harmless at first. It’s the “cook the frog in cold water and SLOWLY turn up the heat” school of methodology.

" Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president . These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.

Disturbing. This is how he ran his campaign and sucked in all the obamanoids!

Bill would give president emergency control of Internet

"The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license. "

  • Bill would give president emergency control of Internet

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.

"I think the redraft, while improved, remains troubling due to its vagueness," said Larry Clinton, president of the Internet Security Alliance, which counts representatives of Verizon, Verisign, Nortel, and Carnegie Mellon University on its board. "It is unclear what authority Sen. Rockefeller thinks is necessary over the private sector. Unless this is clarified, we cannot properly analyze, let alone support the bill." http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10320096-38.html

Representatives of other large Internet and telecommunications companies expressed concerns about the bill in a teleconference with Rockefeller's aides this week, but were not immediately available for interviews on Thursday.

A spokesman for Rockefeller also declined to comment on the record Thursday, saying that many people were unavailable because of the summer recess. A Senate source familiar with the bill compared the president's power to take control of portions of the Internet to what President Bush did when grounding all aircraft on Sept. 11, 2001. The source said that one primary concern was the electrical grid, and what would happen if it were attacked from a broadband connection.

When Rockefeller, the chairman of the Senate Commerce committee, and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) introduced the original bill in April, they claimed it was vital to protect national cybersecurity. "We must protect our critical infrastructure at all costs--from our water to our electricity, to banking, traffic lights and electronic health records," Rockefeller said.

The Rockefeller proposal plays out against a broader concern in Washington, D.C., about the government's role in cybersecurity. In May, President Obama acknowledged that the government is "not as prepared" as it should be to respond to disruptions and announced that a new cybersecurity coordinator position would be created inside the White House staff. Three months later, that post remains empty, one top cybersecurity aide has quit, and some wags have begun to wonder why a government that receives failing marks on cybersecurity should be trusted to instruct the private sector what to do. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10320096-38.html

Rockefeller's revised legislation seeks to reshuffle the way the federal government addresses the topic. It requires a "cybersecurity workforce plan" from every federal agency, a "dashboard" pilot project, measurements of hiring effectiveness, and the implementation of a "comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy" in six months--even though its mandatory legal review will take a year to complete.

The privacy implications of sweeping changes implemented before the legal review is finished worry Lee Tien, a senior staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation in San Francisco. "As soon as you're saying that the federal government is going to be exercising this kind of power over private networks, it's going to be a really big issue," he says.

Probably the most controversial language begins in Section 201, which permits the president to "direct the national response to the cyber threat" if necessary for "the national defense and security." The White House is supposed to engage in "periodic mapping" of private networks deemed to be critical, and those companies "shall share" requested information with the federal government. ("Cyber" is defined as anything having to do with the Internet, telecommunications, computers, or computer networks.) http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10320096-38.html

"The language has changed but it doesn't contain any real additional limits," EFF's Tien says. "It simply switches the more direct and obvious language they had originally to the more ambiguous (version)...The designation of what is a critical infrastructure system or network as far as I can tell has no specific process. There's no provision for any administrative process or review. That's where the problems seem to start. And then you have the amorphous powers that go along with it."

Translation: If your company is deemed "critical," a new set of regulations kick in involving who you can hire, what information you must disclose, and when the government would exercise control over your computers or network.

The Internet Security Alliance's Clinton adds that his group is "supportive of increased federal involvement to enhance cyber security, but we believe that the wrong approach, as embodied in this bill as introduced, will be counterproductive both from an national economic and national secuity perspective."  Excerpt of very lengthy articlefrom CNET NEWS at: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10320096-38.html

Call for White House Control of Security
New York Times, The (NY) - Thursday, April 23, 2009

Author: JOHN MARKOFF Thom Shanker contributed reporting from Washington.

There are now at least three camps involved in the decision that the president will make about control of cybersecurity, Mr. Lewis said: traditional national security policy analysts who are not focused on the cyberthreat; intelligence and military agencies that are seeking to consolidate power and influence over cyberpolicy; and an influential group that has said stricter cybersecurity regulations could damage innovative Internet industries associated with Silicon Valley.

“We didn’t expect the Googles of the world coming in and saying, this makes us nervous,” he said.

Several former government executives said they saw the early influence of the Obama administration on Ms. Hathaway ‘s speech.

Cyber -security czar quits after administration’s delays in finding successor
Seattle Post-Intelligencer (WA) - Tuesday, August 4, 2009

For several months, the Obama administration’s promise to make cyber -security a national priority has felt like a New Year’s resolution to start going to the gym: you really mean to start, but you just never get to it.

And as a result of that, now the country’s top cyber -security seat is going to start getting dusty. The Obama administration cyber -security czar Melissa E. Hathaway announced on Monday she will resign, apparently fed up of waiting for the president to name her successor.

“I wasn’t willing to continue to wait any longer because I’m not empowered right now to continue to drive the change,” Hathaway told The Washington Post.

Hathaway was the top aide on cyber -security under the Bush administration and was asked to remain in the post to lead a 60-day review of cyber -security policies after Obama was elected.

But Hathaway had been spinning her wheels ever since, The Wall Street Journal reported. She apparently became ostracized after suggesting regulating some private-sector entities’ networks and, well, the Bush administration’s former aide probably wasn’t the most popular girl in the new school.

Some Surprised By 'Cash For Clunker' Tax !!!!

"... the government's rebate of up to $4500 dollars for every clunker is taxable. "

"But many of those cashing in on the clunkers program are surprised when they get to the treasurer's office windows. That's because the government's rebate of up to $4500 dollars for every clunker is taxable. "

Some Surprised By 'Clunker' Tax   Excerpted from: http://www.keloland.com/NewsDetail6162.cfm?Id=0,89084

The Cash For Clunkers program is adding to the activity at treasurers' offices all around South Dakota. First, people were asking for proof of ownership, so they could show they owned their vehicle for a full year, allowing them to cash it in. Now, they'll be returning to register their new vehicle.  And when they do, new owners need to bring every bit of paperwork provided to them by their dealer.

"That means they need their title, their damage disclosure, their bill of sale and the dealers have 30 days to get that to them," Minnehaha County Treasurer Pam Nelson said.

But many of those cashing in on the clunkers program are surprised when they get to the treasurer's office windows. That's because the government's rebate of up to $4500 dollars for every clunker is taxable.

"They didn't realize that would be taxable. A lot of people don't realize that. So they're not happy and kind of surprised when they find that out," Nelson said.

For now, the biggest impact of the program hasn't hit this office yet, as most of the paperwork is still in the hands of the dealers. But Nelson expects to see move activity in her office in the next month.

"I'm anxious to see what it's going to be like. I have no idea how many people we're going to see. Hopefully the dealers can process their paperwork in 30 days," Nelson said.

Only "4% of Israeli Jews: Obama pro-Israel" Jerusalem Post

The number of Israelis who see US President Barack Obama's policies as pro-Israel has fallen to four percent, according to a Smith Research poll taken this week on behalf of The Jerusalem Post. Fifty-one percent of Jewish Israelis consider Obama's administration more pro-Palestinian than pro-Israel, according to the survey, while 35% consider it neutral and 10% declined to express an opinion. The poll of 500 people representing a statistical model of the Jewish Israeli population had a margin of error of 4.5%. A much-cited Post poll published on June 19 that put the first figure at 6% had been cited...

4% of Israeli Jews: Obama pro-Israel

Obama's popularity among Israelis has been plummeting since a May 17 Post poll on the eve of a meeting between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Obama at the White House. In that poll, 31% labeled Obama pro-Israel, 14% considered him pro-Palestinian, 40% said he was neutral, and 15% declined to give an opinion.

The May poll found that Israelis' views of Obama's predecessor in the White House, George W. Bush, were nearly the opposite. Some 88% of Israelis considered Bush's administration pro-Israel, 7% said he was neutral and just 2% labeled him pro-Palestinian.

Obama to raise 10-year deficit to $9 trillion
Fri Aug 21, 2009 6:50pm EDT   Excerpted from Reuters at: http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE57K4XE20090821

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration will raise its 10-year budget deficit projection to approximately $9 trillion from $7.108 trillion in a report next week, a senior administration official told Reuters on Friday.

The higher deficit figure, based on updated economic data, brings the White House budget office into line with outside estimates and gives further fuel to President Barack Obama's opponents, who say his spending plans are too expensive in light of budget shortfalls.

The White House took heat for sticking with its $7.108 trillion forecast earlier this year after the Congressional Budget Office forecast that deficits between 2010 and 2019 would total $9.1 trillion. Tax Payers Pay For 400 Hotel Rooms Booked by White House for Obama Visit.

The White House booked 400 (FOUR HUNDRED) hotel rooms at the Big Sky Resort for Barack Obama's overnight visit last week for a town hall meeting in nearby Bozeman, Montana.   Two floors were completely taken over, including the penthouse suites.

While the national news media is ignoring the story, local media let the news slip in their gushing stories of how thrilling it was to have Obama in their midst.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reported on Tuesday on Obama's visit, quoting Big Sky Resort spokesman Dax Schieffer:
The First Family stayed in one of the eight penthouses on the tenth floor of Big Sky Resort’s Summit Hotel on Friday night, said resort spokesman Dax Schieffer. The entire tenth and ninth floor were reserved for the Obamas and family as well as White House and Secret Service staff.

"American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed" Pravda

"...we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters. "

American capitalism gone with a whimper    by Stanislav Mishin
27.04.2009 Source: Pravda.Ru URL: http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-american_capitalism-0

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "freeman" whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

Stanislav Mishin

SET UP!!! "Mean Things Signs" Girl In NH Townhall Is A Dem Plant!

"Julia Hall is her name, AtomicPunk09 discovered someone on facebook who might possibly be Julia's mother and had a photo of her with Obama."

THE LITTLE GIRL AT THE OBAMA TOWN HALL MEETING IN NH

Posted by S.O.L. (note: S.O.L. is the original source of this story, I put together the research below and posted it to AR15.com  S.O.L.

Julia Hall, the girl who asked Obama a question about healthcare

Like many others I watched the "town hall" meeting in Portsmouth NH with the supposedly randomly selected audience.

The second person "randomly" selected to ask a question was a young girl called Julia Hall from Malden MA (asks question at 29 mins 25 secs into the video).

Julia read the following question off a piece of paper: "As I was walking in I saw a lot of signs outside saying mean things about reforming healthcare. How do kids know what is true and why do people want a new system that can help more of us".

This randomly asked question gave Obama the perfect opportunity to dismiss talk about "death panels that will pull the plug on Grandma" and to blame Republicans for everything. Over on the town hall comments thread at AR15.com a user by the name of AtomicPunk09 discovered someone on facebook who might possibly be Julia's mother and had a photo of her with Obama:

http://www.facebook.com/people/Kathleen-Manning-Hall/1545820503
(Edit 8/12, 9.30am EST: Facebook page has now disappeared) All old information and it cannot be proven that Kathleen is Julia's mother, right???? Hold on, look who is sitting next to Julia in the video:

Kathleen Manning Hall

Another "coincidence" is that Julia said she lives in Malden MA and Kathleen Manning Hall's campaign contributions list the occupation "Legal Asst, Looney and Grossman LLP" and a home address in Malden MA:

Looks like she donated $636 to Obama in 2008.

But wait, there's more:

This lists donations to Obama of $230 on 6/15/07, $250 on 9/28/07, $500 on 9/30/07, $300 on 3/2/08

http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/neighbors.php?type=loc&addr=16+APPLETON+ST&zip=02148
" but we also have $1355 donated to Obama by "Kathleen Hall, Legal Assistant, Looney & Grossman" at the same address. (as an aside Looney and Grossman loves Democrats - their employees donated $12,101 in total to Democrats and $0 to Republicans)

––––––

Back to Kathleen's Facebook Page, here are some of her Facebook friends that had unique names so I googled to see if they were Democratic insiders:

Kathleen Manning Hall was in DC for the inauguration and attended the Eastern Ball:

Alayna Van Tassel, Budget and Policy Director for MA Senator Pat Jehlen http://www.linkedin.com/pub/alayna-van-tassel/5/8ba/b80

I could go on and on and check out every one of her Facebook frends but I think the point is clear - the cute question about "mean signs" was read from a pre-written note by the daughter of a Democrat political insider who is know to and has been photographed with President Obama.

Combine that with the first question being from a Democrat State Representative, then a couple of easy Medicare "give me more handouts" questions, then a few more pro-Obamacare questions, and by then end even Obama is begging for a question from someone opposed to his plan.

Kathleen Manning Hall admits to being the mother but claims her daughter came up with the idea of asking a question:

http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/malden/2009/08/a_girl_from_malden_asked.html

A girl from Malden asked President Obama a question at Tuesday's town hall meeting in New Hampshire about the signs outside "saying mean things" about his health care proposal.

Eleven-year-old Julia Hall asked: "How do kids know what is true, and why do people want a new system that can -- that help more of us?''

The question opened the door for the president to respond to what he called an "underlying fear'' among the public "that people somehow won't get the care they need.''

The girl later told the Globe that picking the president's brain was "incredible."

"It was like a once in a lifetime experience," she said.

Julia's mother was an early Obama supporter in Massachusetts during the presidential election, so she had previously met First Lady Michelle Obama, the Obama daughters Sasha and Malia, and Vice President Joe Biden.

"This was my first time meeting Barack Obama, and he's a very nice man," Julia said. "I'm glad I voted for him."

She said Obama won a mock presidential election at the Cheverus School in 2008. And on Tuesday, he approached her after the town meeting.

"He said 'great question,'" Julia said. "I shook his hand and got his picture."

Kathleen Manning Hall, Julia's mother, was shocked when her daughter said she wanted to ask a question. They wrote it down beforehand, and Julia didn't miss a beat when Obama called on her.

"It was surreal," said Manning Hall, a coordinator of Massachusetts Women for Obama during the election.

She said Julia was moved by a woman's testimonial on Tuesday before the president spoke. The woman described her ordeal battling liver disease without health insurance.

"Julia talked about it the whole way home," said Manning Hall, adding that they often discuss politics. "We talk a lot about human rights and having compassion for people."

Julia also enjoys soccer and playing guitar, especially songs by Taylor Swift, her favorite artist.

"She entertained my whole family on Christmas Day," Manning Hall said. "She's a wonderful child. She's a very sensitive, smart girl and I'm hoping she becomes more interested in politics and helping people."

She may get her wish. Julia said she'd like to run for office someday, maybe even for president.

"It would be awesome if I could work in politics," she said.

Responding to Julia -- an honors student entering grade 6 at the Cheverus School -- Obama said:

"Well . . . I've seen some of those signs,'' prompting laughter. "Let me just be specific about some things that I've been hearing lately that we just need to dispose of here. The rumor that's been circulating a lot lately is this idea that somehow the House of Representatives voted for "death panels" that will basically pull the plug on grandma because we've decided that we don't -- it's too expensive to let her live anymore. And there are various -- there are some variations on this theme.''

Obama Lied! "The AARP Hasn't Endorsed Any Health Care Plan Yet"

"Obama had a "Senior Moment" today by claiming (lying) that AARP has endorsed his plans..."

ABC Says AARP Doesn't Endorse Obama's Health Reform Plan?

August 11, 2009, 10:34PM   http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/coonsey/2009/08/abc-says-aarp-doesnt-endorse-o.php?ref=reccafe

 Jake Tapper and Rachel Martin of ABC News reported today that Obama had a "Senior Moment" today by claiming that AARP has endorsed his plans;

"President Obama today suggested that the health care reform legislation for which he's pushing has been endorsed by the American Association of Retired Person.

"We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors," the president said.

At another point he said: "Well, first of all, another myth that we've been hearing about is this notion that somehow we're going to be cutting your Medicare benefits.  We are not.  AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?"

The problem?

The AARP hasn't endorsed any plan yet.

While I will agree AARP, to my knowledge, hasn't gone on live television or radio to 'officially' endorse any plan, they sure have come close to it.  Tapper and Martin failed once again to point out 'all' the details about AARP.

I'd like to point out an article from the Quad-City Times of Iowa, that shows AARP does indeed support President Obama and the Democratic Party's health care plans -- by merely acting against the opponents of it.  Running nationwide television ads to counter the lies about their plan -- sure seems awfully close to an endorsement if I ever saw one.

Excerpted from: http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/blogs/coonsey/2009/08/abc-says-aarp-doesnt-endorse-o.php?ref=reccafe

AARP tells Obama: No health plan endorsement yet

"USA Today fact-checks Obama’s town-hall assertions" Catches Whopping Lies

They’re not terribly enthusiastic about it, but USA Today corrects the record — in a sidebar — on a number of assertions made by Barack Obama yesterday at his Portsmouth, NH forum.  They leave out the biggest whopper, which is Obama’s claim that he has never favored single-payer health-care systems, but they do catch a couple of other big fibs, including Obama’s snow job on AARP endorsementOne of the best catches from USA Today concerns Medicare Advantage, about which Obama has lied for over two years:

“Insurance companies basically get $177 billion of taxpayer money to provide services that Medicare already provides.”

About 10.2 million Medicare recipients are in Medicare Advantage. Under that program, the government pays insurers a set amount per Medicare beneficiary. Obama ridiculed it as costly and redundant, but the plan provides additional benefits, such as vision, dental and hearing, to seniors and helps coordinate health care for those with chronic conditions, says Robert Zirkelbach at the trade association, America’s Health Insurance Plans.

In fact, Medicare Advantage is a Godsend for those trapped within the Medicare system.  Recipients pay substantial monthly premiums, but the plan allows for better provider payments, which keep providers from locking patients out of their clinics.  The extended insurance provides coverage for services which Medicare ignores, and some create a co-payment system rather than the 60/40 system Medicare gives seniors and the disabled in practice.

How do I know this?  The First Mate has Medicare Advantage, and we saw what Medicare did before we got the supplemental coverage.  It’s a disaster for anyone needing anything more than just maintenance care.

Next:

“Under the reform we’re proposing, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”

Not necessarily. In an analysis of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee bill, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that 10 million workers could lose employer-provided benefits and would have to find other insurance.

Some analyses put that number much higher — as high as 83 million.  Obama insists on making this argument despite all evidence to the contrary, especially since businesses control insurance options for most people in the US.  If Obama makes it attractive for businesses to dump their employees into a public plan, then most people won’t be able to keep their existing plans.  And thanks to ObamaCare, they won’t have many options to find private insurance, either.

“The rumor that’s been circulating a lot lately is this idea that somehow the House of Representatives voted for ‘death panels’ that will basically pull the plug on Grandma. … (T)he intention. .. was to give people more information so that they could handle issues of end-of-life care when they’re ready, on their own terms. … (O)ne of the chief sponsors of this bill originally was a Republican … (Sen.) Johnny Isakson from Georgia.”

Isakson issued a press release saying Obama misused his name. A provision he attached to a Senate health care bill would allow seniors to obtain help in formulating a living will something Isakson said is different from House language. The House bill would require Medicare to pay for end-of-life counseling sessions, but it would not mandate that anyone use the benefit.

The media had a field day with this yesterday, using Isakson as a bat with which beat conservative critics, but it never occurred to the layers of fact-checkers and editors that a Senator would have had nothing to do with a clause in a House bill.  In fact, Isakson does support making end-of-life planning available, but doesn’t support the mandate for it that exists in Section 1233 of the House bill.

Kudos to USA Today for doing a good job of fact-checking, even if they couldn’t devote a separate article to it.  (via QandO)
