Did the commander-in-chief deliberately insult the cadets and troops at West Point when he ended his speech to them on Afghanistan this evening?
After thirty-three interminable minutes of Barack Obama doing the teleprompter swivel he snapped his head in mid-pivot, did a quick Mussolini chin pose as he composed himself, and then looked directly in to the camera for dramatic effect as his speech drew to its climax and he spoke directly to "America" like some great lover seducing a nation with his soulful brown eyes:
America – we are passing through a time of great trial. And the message that we send in the midst of these storms must be clear: that our cause is just, our resolve unwavering. We will go forward with the confidence that right makes might, and with the commitment to forge an America that is safer, a world that is more secure, and a future that represents not the deepest of fears but the highest of hopes. Thank you, God Bless you, God Bless our troops, and may God Bless the United States of America. ###
But in a curious departure from the script, Obama skipped over seeking the Lord's blessing for the troops, saying instead: "Thank you! God bless you. And may God bless the United States of America. Thank you very much. Thank you" (To see this go to point 5:15 in video below)
