OU bomber had bigger plans, ties to Norman mosque

While the father of a man who committed suicide outside the Oklahoma football game says that his son wasn't politically motivated, more reports are coming out that and it seems there was more to Joel Henry Hinrichs III than meets the eye.
Oklahoma News 9 is reporting that Hinrichs began attending the same Norman mosque once attended by convicted 9-11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.
After the bombing, police checked the apartment Hinrichs shared with a Pakistani student who works in the Oklahoma athletic department. Officials found a very large cache of explosive material and also reportedly found "jihad literature" as well.
The FBI, Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents and Norman police’s bomb squad were removing the material Sunday evening.
Police were overheard telling residents it would take “several trips and could take up to 24 hours” to remove it all.
Four buildings at Parkview Apartments, including the building where Hinrichs lived, were cordoned off with police tape.
Something about this doesn't seem to add up. Like others, I'm not sure we're hearing the full story on the OU bombing.
For example, why would a suicide bomber who reportedly didn't want to hurt anyone else, have such a large cache of explosives that police had to clear four buildings? Why did he try to buy ammonium nitrate in bulk days before the bombing? Better yet, why build a bomb to kill yourself? Why not just slash your wrists? Why do it in such a public place? Why is the Joint Terrorism Task Force the lead agency on the case? Why is OU increasing security measures if this was a single guy committing suicide?
I don't mean to come off as an alarmist, but it appears that this is adding to up to more than just one engineering student who wanted to commit suicide.
UPDATE: Police held the Pakastani roommate and three other Muslim men immediately after the bombing:

Fazal M. Cheema, a finance major, shared a university-owned apartment with Joel Hinrichs III, 21, who died Saturday when a device attached to his body exploded as he sat on a bench outside George Lynn Cross Hall.
Cheema and three other Muslim students were led in handcuffs from a party by police after the blast, Ashraf Hussein, president of the Muslim Student Association, said Tuesday. They later were released.
Certainly don't remember hearing that in the initial reporting on this case.
UPDATE: The material used in the bomb was TATP, known in Islamic terror circles as the "Mother of Satan". TATP is the same explosive used by the London bombers, shoe-bomber Richard Reid, and countless others. It's very, very, very volatile, which could lend credibility to theories that this bomb went off early.

a tree near where Hinrichs' bomb detonated displays a number of small round holes and some areas of a metallic substance. The holes and substance are only on the side facing the bench on which Hinrichs was seated when the bomb detonated. The holes appear to be about the size of the head of 16 penny nail.

555 am EDT 10/5 update: Channel Oklahoma reported last night that Hinrichs’ bomb contained TATP, the same substance used by shoebomber Richard Reid:
Sources confirmed Tuesday night that at least one of the components in the bomb used by Joel Henry Hinrichs III Saturday night was a product called TATP.
Technically, TATP is triacetone triperoxide. However, it’s called the ‘Mother of Satan’ by Islamist extremists. Experts say it is made by mixing common household items such as drain cleaner and bleach to create a white powder with a strong smell.
It’s so volatile that it can explode even if it’s merely dropped. It can even explode spontaneously, experts say.
There have been very few reports of TATP being used in the United States; however, there have been more documented cases overseas — including Richard Reid, who was arrested after he used TATP in his shoe and tried to light it on a flight.
NewsOK.com confirms that Hinrichs tried to buy a “large quantity of ammonium nitrate fertilizer” at a Norman, Ok., feedstore four days before the bombing and reports that Hinrichs attended the same Norman mosque once attended by Zacarias Moussaoui. (Hat tip: G. Hancock and Jason Smith.)
Meanwhile, the FBI tells the Colorado Springs Gazette that Hinrichs had no known ties to extremist or terrorist groups. The national MSM is still AWOL.

Many of the 85,000 football fans at the Oklahoma University-Kansas State game on Saturday, October 1 thought they were hearing thunder. Others thought fireworks or a game cannon had been set off. But some in the packed Oklahoma Memorial Stadium were anxiously thinking "BOMB!" The loud explosive noise that erupted during the game's second quarter "was heard as far as five miles away," according to a report in The Oklahoma Daily, the university's student newspaper.
It was indeed a bomb that had caused the explosive sound, but many in the stadium did not know that until after the game. By then, news stories were already reporting some of the grisly facts. Some 30 yards from the entrance to the stadium was the lower half of a man's body; the upper half had been completely blown away in an apparent suicide bombing.
The following day, the remains of the body were identified as those of 21-year-old OU engineering student Joel Henry Hinrichs III. University officials and spokesmen for federal law enforcement agencies reacted quickly to assure the public that the bombing was simply the act of a mentally disturbed student, with no evidence of any connection to terrorism.
"We know that he has had what I would call emotional difficulties in the past," said University President David Boren in an October 2 press statement. "There is certainly no evidence at this point which points to any other kind of motivation other than his personal problems." In a joint statement, U.S. Attorney John Richter, FBI Oklahoma Bureau Chief Salvador Hernandez, and OU Police Chief Elizabeth Woolen said, "At this point, we have no information that suggests that there is any additional threat posed by others related to this incident."
Another Coverup
But some local media and independent sources in the Norman, Oklahoma, area where the incident took place, contacted by THE NEW AMERICAN, have challenged that official line, pointing to ample evidence indicating that Hinrichs was involved in a terrorist plot--and that the above-named officials are involved in a massive coverup.
KWTV Channel 9, the Oklahoma City affiliate of CBS, has reported a number of stories that conflict sharply with the official line that there is "no evidence" pointing to a connection between Hinrichs and terrorism:

Khalil has also been associated in Tulsa with Mujeeb Cheema, a Pakistani and organizer of a radical campus student group. There are several high level officials in the Pakistani Intelligence services close to Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein who have the same last name Cheema. It is not known if they are related but Pakistanis are believed to have been hired by Sadam Hussein to help McVeigh. Cheema was employed in Tulsa by a company owned in part by Terry Lenzner, a close friend and investigator for Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Cheema is a strong backer and promoter of a Tulsa mosque that could have aided two pilots who lived in Tulsa and were involved in the suicide attacks on the WTC.
