The “Official Spokesman” of the “Ministry of Information” of the “Islamic State of Iraq” has kindly informed the world, through a new Shura Council of the Mujaheddin video released on the internet today, that Iraq is now divided into two.
“The Alliance of the mutayyebin,” a new body announced on October 12 and consisting of several jihadi groups such as Al-Qaeda in Iraq that are now allegedly allied to several Sunni Iraqi tribal leaders, has declared the formation of an Islamic state within the Sunni areas of Iraq. “mutayyebin” refers to the gooey yellowish syrup called teeb into which those who pledged allegiance to each other dipped their right hands.
The “Official Spokesman” declared that the territory that the jihadists currently control in Iraq is roughly equal to the territory of the state of Medina founded by the Prophet Muhammad during the early days of the Islamic call, and that it finds itself under similar internal as well as external threats.
The new head of state is someone called “Abu Omar Al-Baghdadi”—a name previously unheard of. The spokesman called upon Iraqi Sunnis to pledge their allegiance to Al-Baghdadi. He also called upon Sunni Muslims everywhere to support the nascent state that act as the precursor to the Caliphal state to be resurrected in Baghdad, said the presenter.
The spokesman’s pronunciation of the prepared Classical Arabic text revealed that he was not an Iraqi. He appeared with an opaque dot shielding his face, and was wearing a white headdress.
Apparently, the laws of the shariah will be applied within this state.

Iran Focus
Tehran, Iran, Aug. 26 – A senior Iranian cleric welcomed on Friday the establishment of an Islamic republic in Iraq and hailed the country’s new constitution as one based on “Islamic precepts”.
Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, who heads the powerful ultra-conservative Guardian Council, told worshippers in Tehran’s Friday prayers, “Fortunately, after years of effort and expectations in Iraq, an Islamic state has come to power and the constitution has been established on the basis of Islamic precepts”.
“We must congratulate the Iraqi people and authorities for this victory”, he said.
Jannati, who is a top confidant of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that all justice-seeking counties of the world “have no model other than the Islamic revolution in Iran to turn to”.
“Lebanese Hezbollah and the state of Iraq are not the only supporters of the Islamic revolution”, he said.
Referring to the West as Global Arrogance, the hard-line cleric said, “No matter how many stones they throw in our path, they cannot prevent the spread of the Islamic revolution in the world”.
“We are the winners in the nuclear issue, too”, Jannati said. “The way is paved for our progress and we just need to work hard”.
Jannati said the rising oil prices had placed Iran on a sound financial footing. “We still have problems, but less than before”.
In comments directed against other factions within the clerical regime, Jannati called on the new hard-line government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to “purge executives who have been within our system, but who have been opposing our system and abusing people’s rights”.
“These executives must be purged as soon as possible”, the powerful cleric said. |

Al-Qaida in Iraq Leader Dead? Don't Count Your Chickens Just Yet...
By Evan Kohlmann
Sources at the Iraqi Interior Ministry and the Prime Minister's office are reporting that Abu Hamza al-Muhajir (also known to some as "Abu Ayyub al-Masri") has been killed in factional fighting between Al-Qaida and other Sunni insurgent fighters near the town of Taji, north of Baghdad. As of 9:15am eastern time, the U.S. military has not been able to confirm this information, nor has Al-Qaida's "Islamic State of Iraq" issued any response, either to confirm or deny this news.
In recent months, Iraqi government sources have, on numerous occasions, erroneously reported the capture or killing of senior Al-Qaida leaders. Thus, the credibility of this latest claim is still very much in question. Additionally, both the U.S. military and Iraqi government continue to use an alternate pseudonym for al-Muhajir: "Abu Ayyub al-Masri." Yet, curiously, nobody from Al-Qaida has ever referred to al-Muhajir using the name "Abu Ayyub al-Masri"--nor, in fact, has there ever been any public confirmation from Al-Qaida that al-Muhajir is really an Egyptian.
*UPDATE* (11:30am eastern): Al-Qaida's "Islamic State of Iraq" has now issued a formal statement denying the death of Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, who they describe as the Islamic State's "Minister of War." Elsewhere, Al-Qaida supporters have suggested that the initial report of his demise was part of a desperate scheme concocted by the Iraq government aimed at forcing al-Muhajir to surface and identify himself. ______________________________________________________________________
Jihadist Video Announces "Islamic State of Iraq"

The Global Islamic Media Front, a long-time "umbrella" propaganda organization for Islamic extremists, has released a propaganda video announcing the establishment of the "Islamic State of Iraq."
The Arabic language video - the latest in a series of online videos called Sout Al Khilafa (Arabic for "Voice of the Caliphate") - was released on November 6, 2006, and posted to a blog called the "Caliphate Voice Channel." This video, modeled after standard newscasts, includes versions with English, French and German subtitles.
After a long introductory sequence, an announcer with his face obscured and voice altered appears in the video in front of a computer-generated setting resembling a newsroom. The announcer claims the Mujahideen Shura Council, created by Al Qaeda in Iraq and five of the country's other terrorist groups in January 2006 to unify their efforts and coordinate attacks, has announced the establishment of the "Islamic State of Iraq," where Shariah law will prevail and serve to protect the Sunni people in Iraq.
A series of images appear on one side of the screen, including: video footage of white-robed jihadists riding motorcycles and leading a procession of vehicles through the Iraqi city Ramadi; photos of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and the man identified by Coalition forces as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, the current leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq; and clips of various attacks.
The announcer comments on Iraq's unique geographical location, calling it a starting point "for the Islamic nation['s] fighters in the battle to liberate Palestine from the Zionist entity." The video then ends with clips from older Al Qaeda videos, including footage of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan before the September 11 terrorist attacks. |
